Why Join XLR8?

We welcome students from all educational backgrounds in a gender inclusive environment. No prior experience in robot design, programming or workshop skills required. XLR8 are a gender diverse LGBTIQA+ friendly team.

Experienced Mentors

The same XLR8 mentors have been involved with the team since it started in 2018.

Relaxed friendly environment

We always strive to do build a competitive robot, but we are pretty flexible about the time team members put into the team.

Well resourced build venue

We work from a Trade Training Workshop at KIOSC which enables all students to get hands on with the robot build.

Learn skills

Team members can gain basic workshop skills as well as programming, electrical, Computer Aided Design (CAD) and mechanical design skills depending on their interest.

Get to solve wicked problems

Bored of solving problems in text books? There is no one right solution for FRC robots. Coming up with a design requires careful consideration of the game scoring opportunities, robot build constraints, research, creativity and prototyping. Every challenge and every robot is different.
